MSA Kids Sail

There is always a lesson or two to be learned when putting an MSA event together.  In this case, the first lesson is about trying to get it scheduled well in advance.  We had a window of opportunity for the Kids Sail on Saturday, September 22 and decided to take it.  Of course it was difficult to get the word out in time.

The second lesson concerns weather.  Try to have the good kind for Kids Sailing day.  We got rain and no wind except for when there was too much wind.  On the up side, the overcast kept the sunburn away.

We had a gang of hearty sailors out in four boats even with the short notice and dodgy  weather.  Everyone seemed to have some fun.

There may be some truth to the rumor that the commodore was rescued by a powerboat that towed him to the beach.  Seems he just could not get the Sunfish sailing after dumping it and half filling it with water.  Not having the rudder down may have contributed to the problem.

Don’t give up hope.  For those of you who missed this event we plan to schedule another in October.  So, keep an eye on the web site events page.
